Summary Care Record

A Summary Care Record is an electronic record that contains important information about your health. It includes details such as your allergies, current medications, and any ongoing medical conditions, as well as your name, address, and date of birth.

Having a Summary Care Record can be incredibly beneficial, especially if you require medical treatment or care outside of normal GP surgery hours, or if you are away from home and need medical attention. This is because healthcare professionals who are involved in your care can access your Summary Care Record quickly and easily, even if they don't have access to your full medical record.

Access to your Summary Care Record is strictly controlled, and only healthcare professionals who are involved in your care and have a legitimate reason for accessing your record will be able to do so. Your consent is always sought before your record is accessed, and you have the right to opt out of having a Summary Care Record altogether if you wish.

At our GP surgery, we believe that having a Summary Care Record can be incredibly beneficial for our patients. We encourage all our patients to have a Summary Care Record, and we will discuss this with you during your appointment. If you have any questions or concerns about Summary Care Records, please do not hesitate to speak to one of our practice managers.
